By John Cowen

At a Committee Meeting of the Gloucester R.F.C. on Tuesday 13 February 1953, the Chairman (Rev. H. M. Hughes) made reference to the nomination of Dr. Alcock as City Sheriff, and expressed the pleasure of himself and members of the Committee at the honour conferred on the President of the Club.

In thanking the Chairman for his remarks Dr. Alcock said he was conscious of the fact that the honour was in some measure due to his office as President of the Gloucester R.F.C.
