  • Just look at the quality of that Gloucester United team on 13 Dec 1969! (There must have been at least one change from the programme because Roy Hopson, not in the team list, scored a try.) Ron Etheridge also scored a try, as well as a conversion – it was only his second game for the club and his next game was for Gloucester’s First Team at Coventry. Mickey Booth kicked a drop goal for a 11-3 win. And note that Allan Townsend, a previous Gloucester captain and later to be Gloucester Club President, was Bath United’s captain that season.

  • My memory isn’t what it was – did Mike Burton really start his career as a second row? Many congratulations to Hazey on a fantastic career – one of the legends of this great club. For what its worth my top player remains John Watkins !!!

  • This seems to have been the last season when Gloucester numbered in the traditional way with the full back being number one. When I was a young lad, I got so used to Mickey Booth wearing No 7 that even to this day, I occasionally catch myself wondering why the scrum half is in the lineout. Does anyone else have this problem?
